    A New Self Portrait

    ‘Self Portrait, 2024, 20 years old.’ 12 × 16” Oil on Canvas

    Every November, I decided to paint a new self portrait. I find it’s the best way of self reflection before the year ends, just looking back at feelings and emotions. It has been a big year with lots of improvement whilst still feeling slightly lost. This is what I ended up with.

Colour studies are essential for making sure that compositions and colour harmonies will look right before jumping straight into a canvas. By using small 4 x 6 inch matte photo paper and some alcohol markers, you can achieve some very simple and extremely useful ideas for your abstract pieces.
